Romance Scam
A romance scam refers to the idea of impersonating someone else in a dating site or dating app, tricking other singles with a promise of a romantic relationship and gaining their trust with the intention of getting an financial benefit.
Once they become familiar with their victims, romance scammers use the excuse of a personal emergency to ask for money to solve the situation.
When these fraudsters reach their goal, they cease communication with their victims and in some cases delete their dating profile.
